Monti e valli hanno le loro corrispondenze nella vita interiore. Le valli, dove scorrono fiumi e ruscelli, rappresentano la fertilità, e dunque l’abbondanza, la generosità, la bontà. È nelle valli, non sulle vette, che si trovano praterie, giardini, frutti, fiori e città con i loro abitanti. Sulle alte vette si trovano la roccia, il ghiaccio e l’aridità. Vi sentite isolati? Ebbene, non rimanete sulla vetta, là dove vi ha trascinato il vostro intelletto con il suo orgoglio e la sua propensione alla critica. Scendete nella valle dove regna l’abbondanza, dove si manifesta il cuore, dove scorrono le acque dell’amore. Il sapere che avete acquisito sulle alte cime grazie al vostro intelletto, deve sciogliersi per formare ruscelli e fiumi, e fertilizzare così le vallate.
Perché c'è un tempo per salire e un tempo per scendere: c’è un tempo per elevarsi sulla montagna con l’intelletto, e un tempo per scendere nella valle con il cuore.

Mountains and valleys have their counterparts in our inner lives. Valleys, through which rivers flow, represent fertility and therefore abundance, generosity and goodness. It is in the valleys, not on the summits, that we find meadows, gardens, fruits, flowers and cities inhabited by human beings. On high peaks we find rock, ice and arid landscapes. Do you feel lonely? Well, come down from the summit where your intellect, with its pride, its tendency to criticise, has taken you. Descend into the valley where abundance prevails, where the heart manifests, where the waters of love flow. The knowledge you have acquired on the summits thanks to your intellect must melt and form streams and rivers and fertilize the valleys. There is a time to go up and a time to go down: there is a time to rise to the mountain peak by way of your intellect and a time to descend into the valley by way of your heart.

Montagnes et vallées ont leurs correspondances dans la vie intérieure. Les vallées, où coulent des fleuves et des rivières, représentent la fertilité, donc l’abondance, la générosité, la bonté. C’est dans les vallées et non sur les sommets qu’on trouve des prairies, des jardins, des fruits, des fleurs, des villes et leurs habitants. Sur les hauts sommets on trouve le roc, la glace, l’aridité. Vous vous sentez solitaire ? Eh bien, ne restez pas sur le sommet où votre intellect, avec son orgueil, son goût pour la critique, vous a entraîné. Descendez dans la vallée où règne l’abondance, où le cœur se manifeste, où coulent les eaux de l’amour. Le savoir que vous avez acquis sur les sommets grâce à votre intellect, doit fondre pour former des ruisseaux, des rivières, et fertiliser les vallées. Car il y a un temps pour monter et un temps pour descendre : il y a un temps pour s’élever sur la montagne avec l’intellect, et un temps pour descendre dans la vallée avec le cœur.

Berge und Täler haben ihre Entsprechungen im inneren Leben. Die Täler, in denen Flüsse und Bäche fließen, stellen die Fruchtbarkeit, also die Fülle, die Großzügigkeit und die Güte dar. In den Tälern, nicht auf den Gipfeln finden wir Wiesen, Gärten, Früchte, Blumen, Städte und deren Bewohner. Auf den Gipfeln hingegen herrschen Felsen, Eis und Dürre. Fühlt ihr euch einsam? Nun, dann bleibt nicht auf dem Gipfel, auf den euch euer Intellekt mit seinem Hochmut und seiner Neigung zu Kritik geführt hat. Steigt hinab ins Tal, wo Überfluss herrscht, wo sich das Herz offenbart und wo die Wasser der Liebe fließen. Das Wissen, das ihr dank eures Verstandes auf den Gipfeln erlangt habt, muss schmelzen, um Bäche und Flüsse zu bilden und die Täler fruchtbar zu machen. Denn es gibt eine Zeit, um aufzusteigen und eine Zeit, um herunterzukommen. Es gibt eine Zeit, in der man sich mit dem Intellekt auf den Berg erhebt, und eine andere, wo man mit dem Herzen ins Tal hinunter steigt.
