"È detto nei Salmi: «Il giusto fiorirà come la palma». È un'immagine magnifica, ma come interpretarla?

La palma è un albero che cresce nelle sabbie del deserto. Là, il sole brucia in modo atroce e l'acqua è estremamente rara. Tuttavia la palma dice: «Mostrerò cosa sono capace di fare nelle peggiori condizioni», e offre i suoi datteri, che sono più dolci e zuccherini di ogni altro frutto. La palma è dunque alchimista: trasforma la sabbia in zucchero. Viceversa, un arbusto come il prugnolo selvatico, anche se piantato in un terreno molto ricco, ben irrigato e in un clima favorevole, riesce a produrre solo frutti aspri, immangiabili.
Quante persone sono simili al prugnolo! Beneficiano delle migliori condizioni, ma non sanno trarne profitto. E non solo non producono nulla, ma si lamentano continuamente che a loro manca qualcosa. Ignorano quali ricchezze hanno in se stessi e come potrebbero utilizzarle. Meditino sull'immagine della palma che, nelle peggiori condizioni, riesce a produrre frutti deliziosi. "

"In the Psalms we are told, ‘The righteous will flourish like a palm tree’. This is a magnificent image, but how should we interpret it?

The palm tree grows in the desert sands where the sun beats down on it ferociously and where water is very scarce. However, the palm tree tells itself, ‘I am going to show what I am capable of even in the worst conditions’, and it offers us dates which are sweeter and more sugary than any other fruit. The palm tree is therefore an alchemist: it transforms sand into sugar. While the blackthorn bush, even when planted in the richest of soil, when well-watered and in a good climate, only gives bitter inedible fruit.
So many people are like the blackthorn! They are given the best possible conditions but they don’t know how to take advantage of them. And not only do they produce nothing, they are always complaining they are lacking something. They are not aware of the riches they have within and how they might use them. They would do better to meditate on the image of the palm tree which, despite the worst conditions, is able to bear delicious fruit."

Le palmier est un arbre qui pousse dans les sables du désert. Là, le soleil brûle atrocement, l’eau est extrêmement rare. Cependant, le palmier se dit : « Je vais montrer ce que je suis capable de faire dans les pires conditions », et il offre ses dattes, qui sont plus sucrées et plus douces que n’importe quel autre fruit. Le palmier est donc un alchimiste : il transforme le sable en sucre. Par contre, un arbuste comme le prunellier, même planté dans un sol très riche, bien arrosé et sous un climat favorable, ne parvient à produire que des fruits âpres, immangeables.
Combien de gens sont semblables au prunellier ! Ils bénéficient des meilleures conditions, mais ils ne savent pas en tirer parti. Et non seulement ils ne produisent rien, mais ils sont toujours en train de se plaindre qu’il leur manque quelque chose. Ils ignorent les richesses qui sont en eux et comment ils peuvent les utiliser. Qu’ils méditent sur l’image du palmier qui, dans les pires conditions, arrive à donner des fruits délicieux."

"In den Psalmen heißt es: »Die Gerechten wachsen wie die Palme«. Das ist ein großartiges Bild, aber wie soll man es interpretieren?

Die Palme ist ein Baum, der im Wüstensand wächst, wo die Sonne schrecklich heiß brennt und das Wasser extrem rar ist. Die Palme sagt jedoch zu sich selbst: »Ich werde zeigen, was ich unter den schlimmsten Bedingungen hervorbringen kann« und dann verschenkt sie ihre Datteln, die süßer und weicher sind als jede andere Frucht. Die Palme ist also eine Alchimistin, die den Sand in Zucker verwandelt. Ein Busch wie die Schlehe hingegen bringt auch unter guten Bedingungen, in einem fruchtbaren Boden bei günstigem Klima und mit reichlich Wasser nur bittere, ungenießbare Früchte hervor.
Wie viele Leute sind der Schlehe ähnlich! Sie profitieren von den besten Bedingungen, sind aber nicht in der Lage, etwas daraus zu machen. Sie bringen nicht nur nichts hervor, sondern beklagen sich obendrein noch ständig, dass ihnen etwas fehlt. Sie wissen nicht, welche Reichtümer sie in sich tragen und wie sie sie nutzen können. Das Bild der Dattelpalme, die unter den schlimmsten Bedingungen köstliche Früchte hervorbringt, sollte diesen Menschen als Meditationsthema dienen."

La palmera es un árbol que crece en las arenas del desierto. Allí, el sol quema atrozmente, el agua es extremadamente rara. Sin embargo, la palmera se dice: «Voy a mostraros lo que soy capaz de hacer en las peores condiciones», y ofrece sus dátiles, que son más dulces y más azucarados que cualquier otro fruto. La palmera es pues un alquimista: transforma la arena en azúcar. Por el contrario, un arbusto como el endrino, incluso plantado en un suelo muy rico, bien regado y con un clima favorable, sólo llega a producir unos frutos ásperos e incomestibles.
¡Cuánta gente se parece al endrino! Se benefician de las mejores condiciones, pero no saben sacarles partido. Y no sólo no producen nada, sino que están siempre quejándose de que les falta alguna cosa. Ignoran las riquezas que hay en ellos y cómo pueden utilizarlas. Que mediten en la imagen de la palmera que, en las peores condiciones, consigue dar frutos deliciosos."

"В Псалме сказано: «Праведник цветёт, как пальма». Это прекрасный образ, но как его истолковать?
Пальма — это дерево, растущее в песках пустыни. Солнце палит там нещадно, вода — большая редкость. Тем не менее, пальма говорит себе: «Я покажу, на что я способна в самых наихудших условиях», — и она дарит свои финики, более сладкие и нежные, чем любые другие плоды. Таким образом, пальма является алхимиком: она трансформирует песок в сахар. В то же время такой кустарник, как терновник, даже посаженный в очень плодородную почву, обильно поливаемый и растущий в благоприятных климатических условиях, может дать лишь плоды терпкие и несъедобные.
Сколько людей подобны терновнику! Они живут в самых лучших условиях, но не умеют извлечь из них пользу. Они не только ничего не производят, но и постоянно жалуются, что им чего-нибудь недостаёт. Они не ведают о заключённых в них самих богатствах и том, как они могут их употребить. Пусть они медитируют над образом пальмы, которой в самых плохих условиях удаётся приносить вкуснейшие плоды."

"Está escrito nos Salmos: «Os justos crescem como a palmeira.» É uma imagem magnífica. Mas, como devemos interpretá-la?
A palmeira é uma árvore que cresce nas areias do deserto, onde o sol queima atrozmente e a água é muito, muito rara. Contudo, a palmeira diz: «Eu vou mostrar o que sou capaz de fazer nas piores condições» e oferece as suas tâmaras, que são mais açucaradas e mais doces do que qualquer outro fruto. A palmeira é, pois, um alquimista: transforma a areia em açúcar. Pelo contrário, um arbusto como a ameixeira brava, mesmo plantado num solo muito rico, bem regado e com um clima favorável, só consegue produzir frutos amargos, impossíveis de comer.
Há tantas pessoas semelhantes à ameixeira brava! Beneficiam das melhores condições, mas não sabem tirar partido delas. E não só não produzem nada, como estão sempre a queixar-se de que lhes falta qualquer coisa. Ignoram as riquezas que existem nelas e como podem utilizá-las. Essas pessoas devem meditar sobre a imagem da palmeira, que, nas piores condições, consegue dar frutos deliciosos."

Palmboom en sleedoorn -

"Er is gezegd in de Psalmen :’De rechtvaardigen bloeien als een palmboom’. Dit is een prachtig beeld, maar hoe kunnen we het interpreteren?
De palmboom is een boom die groeit in het zand van de woestijn. Op die plaatsen brandt de zon ongenadig en is het water uitermate zeldzaam. Toch zegt de palmboom tot zichzelf: ‘Ik zal tonen waartoe ik in staat ben in de slechtste omstandigheden’, en hij geeft dadels, die meer suiker bevatten en zoeter zijn dan welke andere vrucht ook. De palmboom is dus een alchemist: hij transformeert zand in suiker. Een struik als de sleedoorn daarentegen brengt slechts bittere, oneetbare vruchten voort, zelfs al wordt hij in een zeer rijke bodem geplant, wordt hij goed begoten en gedijt hij in een gunstig klimaat. 
Hoeveel mensen gelijken op een sleedoorn! Zij genieten van de beste omstandigheden, maar zij slagen er niet in deze te benutten. En niet alleen brengen zij niets voort, maar zij zijn ook altijd bezig met te klagen dat hun iets ontbreekt. Zij hebben geen benul van de rijkdommen die zich in hen bevinden en hoe zij deze kunnen gebruiken. Het zou beter zijn dat zij mediteren over het beeld van de palmboom die er in de slechtste omstandigheden in slaagt om heerlijke vruchten te geven."

Curmalul și prunul -

"Se spune în Psalmi: „Dreptul ca finicul va înflori”. Este o imagine minunată, dar cum să o interpretăm?
Curmalul este un pom care crește în nisipurile deșertului. Acolo soarele arde cu tărie, apa este extrem de rară. Totuși, curmalul își spune: „Eu vreau să arăt ce sunt capabil să fac în cele mai dificilele condiții”, și își dăruiește curmalele, care sunt mai dulci și mai coapte ca oricare alt fruct. Așadar, curmalul este un alchimist: el transformă nisipul în zahăr. Din contră, un arbust precum prunul, chiar plantat în pământ foarte mănos, bine udat și sub un climat propice, nu reușește să producă decât niște fructe amare, necomestibile.
Mulți oameni se aseamănă cu prunul! Ei beneficiază de niște condiții foarte bune, dar nu știu să profite de ele. Nu numai că ei nu produc nimic, dar ei se plâng mereu că le lipsește ceva. Ei nesocotesc bogățiile care se află în ei și cum le pot folosi. Să mediteze asupra imaginii curmalului care, în cele mai vitrege condiții, reușește să dea niște fructe gustoase."

"Διαβάζουμε στους Ψαλμούς: «Οι δίκαιοι αυξάνοντες όπως ο φοίνικας». Πρόκειται για μια θαυμάσια εικόνα, πώς όμως να την ερμηνεύσουμε;
Ο φοίνικας είναι ένα δέντρο που φυτρώνει μέσα στην έρημο. Εκεί ο ήλιος καίει ανελέητα και το νερό είναι ελάχιστο. Παρ’ όλ’ αυτά ο φοίνικας λέει: «Θα δείξω τι είμαι ικανός να κάνω στις χειρότερες συνθήκες» και προσφέρει τους χουρμάδες που είναι το πιο γλυκό απ’ όλα τα φρούτα. Ο φοίνικας δηλαδή είναι αλχημιστής: Μετουσιώνει την άμμο σε ζάχαρη. Αντίθετα, κάποια δεντράκια σαν τη δαμασκηνιά, έστω κι αν φυτευτούν σε εύφορο έδαφος και ποτίζονται καλά, έστω κι αν το κλίμα είναι εύκρατο, το μόνο που παράγουν είναι κάτι καρποί κατάξινοι, που μόλις και μετά βίας τρώγονται.
Πόσοι και πόσοι άνθρωποι δεν μοιάζουν με τη δαμασκηνιά! Αν και ζουν στις καλύτερες συνθήκες, δεν είναι ικανοί να επωφεληθούν απ’ αυτές. Και όχι απλώς δεν παράγουν τίποτα, αλλά και διαρκώς παραπονιούνται ότι δήθεν κάτι τους λείπει. Δεν ξέρουν ούτε τί πλούτη κρύβουν μέσα τους, ούτε πώς να τα αξιοποιήσουν. Ας διαλογιστούν με θέμα τον φοίνικα, ο οποίος στις δυσμενέστερες συνθήκες παράγει θεσπέσιους καρπούς."



"Когато не се чувствате добре, когато сте в състояние на афект или пък ви е обзела тъга, останете си вкъщи спокойни, работете със светлината, молете се, медитирайте, пейте, слушайте музика... Или излезте да се поразходите малко сред природата, дишайте дълбоко, свързвайки се със земята, дърветата, небето... Посещавайте близки и приятели само когато се почувствате освободени и способни да им поднесете нещо добро, светло и съзидателно.
Наблюдавайте се и ще установите, че правите точно обратното – щом нещата не вървят добре, се втурвате при хората, за да споделите с тях вашите грижи и скърби, а когато всичко е наред, вие нямате какво да им доверите. Да, това е невероятно – когато всичко е наред, няма какво да се разказва! Не мислите ли, че има нещо, което трябва да се поправи, за да се научите да споделяте с близките си само добрите си състояния?"
